County Council Member Tom Audette Takes on the "WOKE" York County Library System

Demand a Balance of Books!

Tom Audette has been working with the York County Library to balance the large number “pro transgender” and “woke” books.  He needs your help.

What are some books the libraries should have?

The following books on transgenderism (all recently published)—from a different perspective—would help balance the collection, but none are available in our county library system:

  • Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters (Abigail Shrier) – 2020
  • Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life & Sexuality (Nancy Pearcey) – 2019
  • When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment (Ryan Anderson) – 2019 (banned from Amazon; only available on Barnes & Noble)
    • This book was removed from Amazon because they “chose not to sell books that frame LGBTQ+ identity as a mental illness.” They had sold the book for 3 years before they decided to stop selling it.
  • Understanding Gender Dysphoria: Navigating Transgender Issues in a Changing Culture (Mark Yarhouse) – 2015
  • Transgender to Transformed: A Story of Transition That Will Truly Set You Free (Laura Perry) – 2019
  • Trans Life Survivors (Walt Heyer) – 2018
    • Walt Heyer has written several books. He transitioned from male to female at age 42, lived 8 years as a transgender woman, and then detransitioned back to being a man. Heyer is an accomplished author and public speaker who raises awareness of regret and the tragic consequences suffered as a result of unnecessary gender change surgery.
  • The End of Gender: Debunking the Myths about Sex & Identity in Our Society – 2021
  • Elephants Are Not Birds (Ashley St. Clair) – 2021
  • Johnny the Walrus (Matt Walsh) – 2022
  • Abolition of Sex: How the Transgender Agenda Harms Women and Girls (Kara Dansky) 2021

Doublethink: A Feminist Challenge to Transgenderism (Janice Raymond, PhD) 2021

What other "book review" sources should the library system use to make book-buying decisions?

The library will have to change their collection development policy, especially regarding review sources, in order to acquire books from smaller/niche publishers. Some alternative review sources include, but are not limited to:

  • New Criterion
  • Claremont Review
  • Nation Review
  • Commentary
  • First Things
  • American Spectator

How to request books?

How to request the York County libraries for these books along with other conservative books we want added. Also requesting that they use these alternative review sources.

Just go to this link and submit your request. https://www.yclibrary.org/contact-us

Direct number to the York County Libraries is (803) 981-5858.
