On April 13, 2023, the SC Senate unanimously passed Bond Reform, which will end “Catch and Release” for repeat violent offenders. The House passed H. 3532 in March. The Senate amended the bill to remove the mandated 5-year sentence enhancement for suspects who commit a violent crime while out on bond. The law will be finalized in a conference committee of Senators and House Members.
